🏎️ - Interestingly, a single race car can generate up to 3GB of data per lap, per weekend ?one terabyte, easily. Should not come as a shock really, most F1 racing teams would capture telemetry data, simulation and performance data and these increase by the second especially when a car is in motion.
🏎️ - As you may have guessed, engineering teams, prior to a race, run simulations with different strategies based off different factors to determine the design of their cars, the strategy or number of strategies for a given race.
🏎️ - What could be really helpful is making use of performance data on race day and looking at how that compares to simulations under similar factors.
🏎️ -The gap between both can inform if the models or simulation systems needs some tuning. Ultimately, the aim should be to reduce that gap as much as possible.
